JUNGLE SAFARI
Nepal’s richest wildlife habitats are protected within national parks and wildlife reserves, and are best toured on elephantback, landrover, dugout canoe or on foot with professional guides. The numerous safari camps and lodges arrange two to three days or longer stays at Royal Chitwan National Park, the Royal Bardia National Park or Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve. The Shukla Phanta Wildlife Reserve is more remote and arrangements more difficult. You’ll see a wide variety of exotic wildlife including the greater one horned rhino, sambar and chital deer, gharial and marsh mugger crocodile, hundreds of bird species and perhaps the elusive Royal Bengal tiger. Luxury to budget accommodations are available both within and outside the parks.
